In order for web site content to be displayed in the visitors browser it has to be served to the browser in such a way that the browser understands how to display the page and its content correctly. HTML is the language that is used to create web pages that a web browser will understand and can be used on its own or together with other languages such as Javascript, Java, PHP, DHTML and CSS etc. to create more dynamic and interactive content.
