S&V Publications Website

S&V Publications had an existing old frames website that was very out of date and required a complete custom rebuild of the site. The client publishes a number of trade magazines, trade show calendars and directories and needed the site to attract new subscribers, enable existing subscribers to search their database and provide a means of publishing follow up articles and breaking news within the footwear, leather goods and protective clothing industry.

The site comprises a module based dynamic site that enables the client to update the site via the password protected admin backend. The trade show calendar automatically displays any current events followed by any forthcoming events. The client need only add the events along with the start date and end date and the system determines the status of events relative to the current date and displays the events accordingingly.

The database search feature currently uses the clients existing MS ACCESS database which is still hosted on the old windows based server. The new site runs on Linux & Apache and could not host the existing database so the system quieries the database remotely and displays the results in an iframe on the new site. This is an interim measure until the new Mysql database is created and populated with data which will enable much more specific searches of the data.
